Who's on First?

David Pehrson, for one, is on -- in -- at First Lutheran Church. David is a son of First Lutheran having been confirmed by Pastor Chilstrom in 1970. David and Doreen were married in 1975 and live, as David says, six miles out on the Ottawa Road.

Housekeepers in this congregation would recognize, when visiting with David, that he is an observant and caring “church-keeper.” He concentrates on cleaning a certain section of the building each day of the week. He watches for trouble spots and makes sure that areas are ready for regular and special use.

The Church Council must depend on David’s observation of our building in order to make timely and efficient decisions as to major repairs on our nearly 40 year old church. David notes that plans for the summer include re-carpeting several areas, painting hallways and bathrooms and doing some major work on pruning the trees on our grounds.

David admits that going to work in the morning is a pleasure for him. He particularly appreciates the feelings of cooperation and good will so evident among our staff. Making sure that First Lutheran Church is ready for meetings of the congregation or use by outside groups such as Day Center and Narcotics Anonymous gives David great pleasure and satisfaction.

David “is on First” and the congregation appreciates having him there.
